Who lies, can create...
I think this solo as a great creative lie. An ode to the act of inventing, of seeing something as something else.
My starting point was to seek the basis of my creativity. What I found was something simple, almost childish: the same thing that makes one whistle in the street or looking at a cloud and say it is an elephant. This taste for inventing, lying, generate, launched me to create an artistic object that ignores the boundaries between dance and music and the theater which is based on the character / Alter Ego "Augustus Benjamin. The show is a meeting between my fictional ego and a real public.
"Augustus hears cars like sea waves" is my first solo piece, and somehow it is also the first work that I feel like I t's mine, because everything that I created so far has been on a collective work or directed by another artist . The fact that he designed and implemented all integral components: lights, scenery, music and performance affected my conception of these elements, removing the boundaries that normally exist between them, creating new possibilities in terms of my conception of a show.
Contemporary Dance is, since ever experimenting, crossing and the dawn of new approaches in the way of facing the body, movement and, even society - where artists belong - and the world where we live.
From this net of relationships based in contents worked by artists we find documents that can register the body in its many identities.
This edition of Festival da Fábrica, the 11th, we've tried to enlarge our role as partners in showing new works and new artists. We made partnerships with several venues trying to approach the public instead of waiting public to came to the theatre.
