Taking real stories of isolation as their starting point, 4m2 explores how to reflect on these memories as a way to find freedom and a place of escape: The magic of being on an empty stage. The solitude and silence of a lake in Sweden. The mesmeric nature of cliff-top bird-watching.
4m2 is technically sophisticated and has a distinctive stamp of intricacy and sincerity, playfulness and humour, and is set against a stunning backdrop by visual artist Sian Stammers and an original score composed by Scanner.
4m2 is the first collaboration between Claire Cunningham, Jose Agudo, and composer Scanner, created as artists in residence at Déda, Derby, in Summer 2008.
Claire and Jose have previously worked with a range of companies including
Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, T.R.A.S.H., Theatre Rites, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, Rui Horta, Ballet de Marseille, Random Dance and Charleroi/Danses.
