Muhanad Rasheed’s dance piece focuses on three men and one woman. They each have a different religion and live together in peace. But slowly avarice and evil creep into their lives. Violence and murder force them apart. „Crying of my Mother“ is infused by the experience of war and civil war in Iraq. It demonstrates how people become alienated from one another, brutalized, and how they harm and finally lose each other.
"Crying of my Mother" is one of the works selected for touring through Aerowaves 2008/2009.
Künstlerhaus Mousonturm presents the work in the scope of the festival Coming Closer [Friday 30/10/2009 – Sunday 15/11/2009] with a focus on contemporary arts from the Middle East & North Africa. It is part of a triple bill with "What’s up" by Ahmed Khemis / Dali Touiti (Tunisia/Algeria) and "Voyage des poussières" by Ahmed Khemis (Algeria) on Sunday 15/11/2009.
