Background Information

On 26-27 June 2010, a new competition took place in Théâtre de la Ville co-organized with Musee de la danse, after an idea of Boris Charmatz, entitled Danse Elargie.

The aim is to find new ideas and new paths for dance. It is open to artists of all fields who want to try something new for or about Dance. The 2 rules are : minimum 3 people on stage and maximum 10 minutes.
Over 400 candidates from 25 countries applied out of which 20 were selected to perform their piece in front of an International Jury composed of artists only (visual artists, choreographers, film and theatre directors, musicians...). The competition is open to the public (free entrance, free seating).

From 5 September - 1 October 2011 Théâtre de la Ville opens its season with 22 performances of 4 of the winning artists of Danse Elargie 2010. (Compagnie KLP, Noe Soulier, Simon Tanguy and Scali Delpeyrat.)
