Company Sofia Fitas / Experimento 2

Lisbon, Portugal

16 Oct '10

Experimento 2 gives continuation to the experimentation and research developed in my previous solo: Experimento 1 (1st Prize - Solo Contest 13º International Contemporary Dance Festival of Canary Islands - 2008).
Continuing to question the perception and representation of the body, Experimento 2 seeks to create a body in a continuous “devenir”, a body which does not define a territory, but where real and virtual pathways are unfolded.

Performance at 19h / 7p.m.

"Experimento 2" was supported by ACCCA - Companhia Clara Andermatt (Lisbon) and Mains d'OEuvres (Paris)

Background Information

To develop Experimento 2 I continue to inspire me in Gilles Deleuze (philosopher) concepts, if in Experiment 1 I worked directly the notion of “Rhizome” in this solo I focus on the concept of “Devenir”, as a stimulus for the artistic research.
I do not intend to interpret the concept through the body and its movement, but to find points of intersection, relationships and interactions between this concept and the movement, that will bring out several and different proposals to development of this choreography.
A solo that intends to create an organic/inorganic and imperceptible body.
A body that modulates forces, create images through the movement, that become and reveal themselves as a stimulus to the reflection and to question.

Sofia Fitas is a portuguese choreographer and dancer, working between Lisbon and Paris.
His training in dance was completed with a degree in Dance, in 1999, at the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, in Lisbon.
The development of his choreographic work and all the conceptual and artistic research involved encouraged her to follow in 2004 a Master degree in Aesthetics/ Philosophy. These studies have been deepened by a period of research in the Department of Dance of the University-Paris VIII (Vincennes-Saint Denis) and in the Centre National de la Danse, in 2006.
Intuition, experiment and “devenir” are key words in his choreographic research. His work departs from an experimentation and deconstruction of the body and its movement, and highlights a question about the individual, his real and virtual ways of being.
