We dress up. Maybe we are all quick-change artists? At times we really don't want to be one. But not always are we our own masters. "If the life-hunger rules me, I have to do what blind instinct says, to run and to fluster, because of a single moment asks for a lot, I have to lose face, always on the wishes and desires and passions, always hurry so I do not miss anything, to collect, worry, fear, afraid, hungry, thirsty, goals and ambition and power and wealth and prosperity and comfort, what my own instinct devours."
We dress up. We put on all layers thinkable, one after another, until we have no more sight.
We dress up. We're all quick-change artists. We are bluffing - or we do not know anymore whether bluffing.
Shall we undress it all? Or choose a layer?
Shall we get naked?
"...to learn to be present...
...with naked brains...
...to practice the emptiness...
...always for the first, always for the last... "
quotes from Béla Hamvas
Fregoli syndrome is a rare disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that different people are in fact a single person who changes appearance or is in disguise. The condition is named after the Italian quick change artist Leopoldo Fregoli.
Anna Réti studied in the Rotterdam Dance Academy and worked in Holland with Galili Dance, and Conny Janssen Danst. She started creating her own work in 2006 and her first solo, Inside out won the first price for dancer, the second price for choreography, and the audience price on the 10th Stuttgart International Solo Dance Theater Festival. She invited three interesting, versatile artists; Belgium based Claudio Stellato, Italian dancer, choreographer, circus-artist with an experience in street theatre as well, Amos Ben-Tal also Brussels based, an Israeli composer, choreographer, ex NDT-dancer and Újvári Milán ex Pal Frenak dancer whom we could also see in the ever so popular Cirque de Soleil show last year.
