Go tell the women (we’re leaving)

Three businessmen go out together. As the evening progresses their behavior becomes more relaxed and the contact friendlier. The personal stories trickle through. Humor interchanges with painful disclosures. Until the morning approaches and the ties are ironed once again.

Panama Pictures
Dance, text, acting, music and decor; everything merges in the performances of Panama Pictures. With her theatrical dance pieces, often inspired by literature, choreographer Pia Meuthen creates stories that rise beyond the merely narrative. She unravels the thoughts and crawls into the heads of the characters until an exposed picture of them and their innermost emotions are revealed. She does that with refinement and restraint, with attention to aesthetics and with the aim of making an absorbing, accessible, recognizable, almost filmic performance that touches its audience.
The personal input and the individual character of the dancers is of great importance in the creation of her work.

Pia Meuthen (Duisburg/ Germany, 1972) followed her dance education at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam and Fontys Dansacademie in Tilburg. She has been active as a freelance choreographer since 1998. Pia's productions have been commissioned by various production companies and dance groups in The Netherlands. In 2002 Pia formed her own company, Panama Pictures, under which she continues to make productions and co-productions. The company's work includes: Unmade Beds, Newbodies, Odd, Go tell the women (we’re leaving) and Nude. In 2005 Unmade Beds was nominated for the VSCD dance prize for the best production. Odd, Pia's choreography for 2movedancecompany, was selected for the DanceClick tour 6. In 2008 she was invited by Springdance to take part in The Springdance Talent Program in Nottingham. In the same year she was selected to participate in The Big Intensive Workshop at the renown London theatre Sadler’s Wells. From 2009 until 2012 Pia Meuthen/Panama Pictures is resident choreographer at Danshuis Station Zuid.
