iDANS / Local Time

A weekend programme of local Turkish work takes place in the context of the Istanbul International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Performance. Organised by Bimeras between May 2nd - June 3rd at multiple venues in Istanbul. Conceived around the vertiginous concept of “Time”, the festival will include some 20 works created by international and local artists. Jonathan Burrows & Matteo Fargion (UK), Thierry de Mey (B), Michèle-Anne de Mey (B), Olga de Soto (E/B), deufert + plischke (D), Ivana Müller (NL/HR), Juan Dominguez (E), Walid Raad (RL/US), Rachid Ouramdane (F), Andrea Bozić (NL/HR), Iguan Dance Theater (RU), Taldans (TR) and Koosil-ja (US) are among this edition’s participants.

The festival will include live and “not-so-live” performances, artists’ talks, concerts, publications, and a symposium addressing thematic issues of concern. The festival seeks to combine deep thought and fun, reflection and distraction; to offer a multi-faceted platform for presenting, discussing, sharing and debating dance, culminating each day with our dinners at the festival meeting point!
