i can ride a horse whilst juggling so marry me is staged at the festival 'ruige mest, verse dans', a dance festival introducing new emerging choreographers organised by Productiehuis Brabant and Verkadefabriek
i can ride a horse whilst juggling so marry me is a performance somewhere in between dance and theatre. Raw, fragile and funny, i can ride a horse whilst juggling so marry me stages five young dancers, balancing between girl and woman. In the performance, facebook is used as a metaphor for the search for individuality and the need to excel.
Jan Martens (Belgium, 1984) graduated at the Royal Conservatory of Dance Artesis Antwerp, and studied before at the Fontys dance academy in Tilburg. As a dancer he performed in the work of United-C, Koen De Preter and Goele Van Dijck. Currently he is dancing in the work of Ann Van den Broek (www.wardward.be). In his own work the beauty of the incomplete human being stands up front, rather than to excel in choreographic complexity or physical virtuousity.
