Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi/Vertigo Flying effects - KONTROL

ABOUT KONTROL :

‘Kontrol’ is an experimental movement research within the possibilities of the used flying system, moving up, down, forward and backward, suspending on air, resisting the gravity in the performance space with the body. Despite all the restrictions, the system gives the feeling of flying, that is a dream for most of us, to the perfomer partially and this system is used by the member of the Vertigo, Cihan Kuşçu.

During the performance, under the constraints of the restricted movement space and being under the control of the performer lifting all the weight, there had been a necessity of creating a new movement language other than the conventional movement forms and synchronized with the used system within seven months period during the preparation process.

Either than all the technical facts,the dancer attached to the flying system, even though she moves in accord with the movement possibilities that the system presents, is surrounded by the solid fact that her movements are described by the system and she has to move within those limits. As she is perceived that she is manipulating the system, actually, the truth is it is a biased situation that she is manipulated by the system as well. This facts presents us the idea that, a human being who have always been chasing the freedom is actually described by the system and s/he won't be able to have the condition of pure and eternal freedom, even if s/he believes that s/he is shaping his/her own life by giving decisions and acting upon through his/her free will. There is always a power (whether say system, nature, time, faith or God, all having different meanings in each culture) and s/he feels that. This idea is elaborated with the text that have been used through presentation, which is written by Ufuk Uslu wrote for this piece. The musics of the project had been composed by a member of the Gevende Music Group, Ömer Öztüyen, who performs live on stage accompanying Aslı Öztürk, gives a new dimension to the performance.

ASLI OZTURK
Born in 1980 in Istanbul.

Starting her dance education in Istanbul University State Conservatory, Classical Ballet Department between 1991-1997, she completed her graduate degree on Modern Dance in Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Faculty, Modern Dance Department between 1998-2002. She completed her education between 2002-2003 in Le Centre National de Danse Contemporaine – Angers and she joined the D.A.N.C.E. program, which is an interdiciplinary program that the artistic directors of which were William Forsyhte , Frederic Flamand, Wayne McGregor and Angelin Preljocaj, who are important choreographers of the dance world. She finished this program in 2007 July.
Teaching ballet and modern dance classes in various places and Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Faculty, State Conservatory, Öztürk have been working and performing with Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası in Istanbul since 2003.
