MODESTY (VERECONDIA) OF THE EYES
“In front of all these eyes for your fault”. Modesty is the virtue of those who, under someone
else’s glance, act with the fear to have exaggerated or lacked;
whose movement is blocked in an eternal and imaginary preparation to the fight or to the escape.
The performing project was conceived for a single dancer, with a costume made of polythene, sealed trough combustion, containing liquid. The liquid wraps the performer’s body, modifying her perception of weight and balance. Like a watery mass the dancer challenges most of the possible movement forms and betrays them, she leaves and modifies them continuously under the weight of its changeable identity. Something of contemporary extreme and simple happens in front of the eyes of the spectators who can honour or disregards.
