Perro by Daniel Abreu, a work selected for Aerowaves 2009 is represented again in Santander, Spain next January.
"Perro" is a solo work created by Daniel Abreu, that was selected for Aerowaves 2009. "Perro" has been represented in UK, Croatia, Brasil, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and in a variety of spanish theatres and festivals.
The whole story is narrated in an empty stage, in which, for the moment there is room for only one person. One person who tells stories about persons. One person who, like everyone else, has been created from physical and emotional accidents.
One dancer in an empty scenery portrays both the animal and the human sides of man...
Daniel Abreu was born in Tenerife; he is developing his creative trajectory
as director, choreographer and dancer in the Spanish contemporary dance scene. Since 2004, he directs his own company, the Daniel Abreu Company.
Abreus’s works reflect the evolution of a proper language and style. He has created more than twenty pieces ranging from dance solos and dance groups works to collective works for theatre or works for outdoor formats. These have been either produced by the company or commissioned by other institutions.
“Always smart (even when he spits out to the air), Daniel Abreu travels to his maturity and towards the mirror... The appropriate use of the space, the silences, the darkness that links the elaborated scenes, as cerebral as physical, as lyrical as cruel... Very few times must the critic evaluate a priori a freshman's work. Despite his experience as dancer, Daniel Abreu is a freshman creator. His solos show a progression which commands respect and invites the best observation...” Roger Salas. El País, 13 de Noviembre de 2006
