Petri Kekoni Company / The Green Armchair

The group Petri Kekoni Company was officially founded 2007 in Helsinki, when an organization called Liikkeen puolesta ( for the sake of movement) was founded to support the work of the group. The group's repertore consisists of choreographer Petri Kekoni's contemporary and earlier productions from 1998 onwards.

Company's creation The Green Armchair is a piece about toughness of rest - and how difficult it's to permit it. It's a manifest against unnecessary movement!
The performance is a study in the aestetics of repose and of borderline between movement and immobility.
It's also a methaphor for waiting that has been tuned to the extreme explosion point. Its organic bursts creates contrasts and occasional stillness is not without thought or meaning.
