PROSSIMO - Giulia Mureddu (PREMIERE NOV 8)
Prossimo is an ode to the unpredictable individual. This multimedia dance performance deals with our need to be close to another. Technology increases the possibilties and strategies in making contact with somebody. How intimate could this contact be? Giulia Mureddu is a dance theatre artist whose priority is to act beyond the boarders of already known forms and aesthetics. Her performances consistently build a close relationship with the viewer based on provocation and play.
As part of the public program Counter|Punch! a reaction on Prossimo will take place after the performance on the 9th of november. A discussion about the subject of physical and virtual strategies for making social contact.

IOVIODIO points the finger at the incapacity to take risks,
at the lack of courage to fight and to love, to make mistakes, to fail, to be different and
to think different, to live deeply and fully without being paralyzed by "correctness" and "politeness".
Beyond this incapacity there is a whole space of creation. In and with our bodies we invite the audience to take the courage to create alternatives in relationships, in lives and in art.

HI! MY NAME IS... - Cecilia Moisio (DUTCH PREMIERE NOV 12)
How far can you go to find love and to dull your solitude? Society and new technologies put pressure on your private live to make it public. You are forced to search for social contact in the most peculiar ways. In Hi! My name is… two dancers and three musicians confront their desire to connect and expose themselves via text, spoken word, rap and movement.
Besides her work as a dancer for Ann van den Broek and in the past for Krisztina de Châtel, Moisio is building up her career as choreographer at the production house of Dansmakers Amsterdam since 2009.

DOUBLE BILL I&II - Aerowaves & Dansmakers Amsterdam
This year we have expanded PUNCH! to include an international component in cooperation with Aerowaves presented in 2 double bills on the 12th and 13th of November. In these double bills foreign choreographers of the European Aerowaves network are linked to choreographers who are based in The Netherlands: the POGOensemble shares a night with Hillary Blake Firestone and La Macana with Alma Soderberg

URBAN DANCE MASTER CLASS - Antoinette Gomis
In the urban dance master class workshop Antoinette Gomis focusses on new developments in funk styles (Lockin’, Wackin’ and Poppin’), house and hiphop – the best of France. A presentation of the workshop will be held in the Melkweg on November 13.
Background Information
PUNCH! shows national and international new dance talent and is organized by Dansmakers Amsterdam from 08-13th of November. Gabriella Maiorino’s IOVIODIO will be performed in reprise after its sold-out performances in February this year. This year PUNCH! presents two premieres: on November 08 Prossimo by Giulia Mureddu in Theater Bellevue and on November 12 Hi! My name is.. by Cecilia Moisio in the Melkweg Theater.
This year we have expanded it to include an international component in cooperation with Aerowaves presented in 2 double bills on the 12th and 13th of November. Furthermore a 4-day master class by Antoinette Gomis (F) will be given in urban dance. A presentation of the master class will take place on the 13th of November.
Not to forget to visit the public program, Counter|PUNCH! in cooperation with Mediamatic. As part of this program a reaction on Prossimo will take place after the performance on the 9th of november. A discussion about the subject of physical and virtual strategies for making social contact.
