Redrum sessions, "Barutana 09"
The state of symmetry, order, periodical state and emptiness are unsustainable for any normal human system. No one approached this state as lucidly as Stanley Kubrick in his film The Shining. The basic structural process by which Kubrick summoned the feeling of dread and discomfort in the movie was indeed the sense of order and symmetry. Such a sequence of facts is, in fact, paradoxical, since the diametrical opposite to this state, in ample and parallel dosage, is unsustainable. Chaos, disorder, irregularity - they always long for a certain pattern, order, a sense of final state.
Redrum Sessions is a performance inspired by motifs from Kubrick's movie and is enveloped in examining the said paradox. In it the two authors begin their journey from a common initial point of their theatrical, dynamic, energetic position. Their duality in this case represents symmetry, equilibrium, balance. However, these are parameters which confirm their position only at the moment when the power of the "shining" coming from the silent cry of the audience penetrates the performance with one sole word: ''Dance!'' The answer is found within the same paradox: the body (or bodies connected by the same system) keeps longing for order exactly as much as it tries to escape it.
Performance "Redrum sessions" choreographed by Ana Mrak and Darija Dozdor was recently rewarded with 1st prize in CROATIAN PLATFORM OF YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHERS.
