Festival Jamais Vu!
Théâtre Le Colombier
20, rue M-A Colombier, Bagnolet
This solo makes part of the W-EST_WHERE Project, a project developed by four organizers: Teatro Viriato (Viseu, Portugal), Company Jasmina (Orléans, France),Trafó House (Budapest, Hungary) and the HIPP – Croatian Institute of the Movement and the Dance (Zagreb, Croatia). The solo was presented in Viseu, Orléans, Budapest, Zagreb and Paris.
The creation of this solo had its starting point in a research on the idea of identity and obstacle.
Through an experiment with the body and its movement, I tried to create and show alternative images, other perceptions of the body, that could reveal themselves as an expression of possible identities, as well as of constraints or obstacles inherent to them, without ever trying to give them a representative or interpretative character.
In the development of this choreography it was also my purpose to question our perception and representation of the human body, while trying to make visible its poetry.
Sofia Fitas is a portuguese choreographer and dancer, working at the moment in Paris. Her choreographic pieces are regularly presented in Portugal, France, Spain and the Netherlands.
Intuition, experimentation and becoming are key words of Sofia Fitas choreographies.
His work focus on experimentation and deconstruction of the body and his movement, tying to question the individual and his identity, disorders of the definition of human beings, causing loss or decline the border between the real and the virtual.
