Spettro is a photograph: a body trapped in the process of its own objectification, yet with the need to move from one image of itself to another as if to make sense of its own existence or trace some memory immortalised in these frames. However, something goes wrong in this vacillation from one image to another, in this attempt to mechanically repeat what could never be repeated existentially (R. Barthes). By attempting to relive the moment we realise that it is impossible to relive the memory without misrepresenting it; by bringing the dead image to life we betray the evidence of what has been.
Giving material back to the body, making that body a seductive being, discovering its truths, the deeper meaning of before and after and the implications of simulacrum. The obsessive repetition of the same gestures as part of an asyntactic dialogue. Spettro is a dream, a trap where subconscious meanings are played out.

diadi was created in 2008 by Francesca Gironi (dancer/choreographer) and Monica Gironi (choreography supervisor) with the aim to explore the field of contemporary dance while staying open to different artistic influences. diadi works with electronic composers, video artists and photographers in its research into the poetics of the body.
