Anne Nguyen's s solo "Square Root" (creation 2007), is the result of a choreographic research on the art of composing hip-hop dance for the stage: in order to be transmitted inside the square space of the stage, that dance form, born in circles, must be subjected to a mathematical and geometric operation: the Square Root…

The par Terre / Anne Nguyen dance company is at the crossroads between hip-hop movements and contemporary choreography.
“Hip-hop dancer and choreographer Anne Nguyen, expert in breakdance (acrobatic floor-dance) intrigues by her ability to shift the front of hip-hop towards enigmatic, spectacular spaces.” (Rosita Boisseau - Télérama Sortir - 12/2008)
Dancer, choreographer of the par Terre dance company (2005), writer and journalist, Anne Nguyen has danced for hip-hop and contemporary dance companies (Black Blanc Beur, Rêvolution, Faustin Linyekula, Salia Nï Seydou), and within the groups RedMask, Phase T, Def Dogz, Créteil Style. Besides the stage, she is active within the sphere of battles (winner BOTY 2005, IBE 2004…), that she is regularly judging (BC-One 2007, BOTY 2006…). She appears in the movie Planet B-Boy (2007).
Anne Nguyen founds the dance company par Terre in 2005, and creates her solo Square Root (2007), conjugating breakdance movements and contemporary choreography. She also choreographs the Locking (funk dance) piece for six dancers Keep it Funky! (2007), a humoristic dance piece in the style of comedy. Her last group piece, for five dancers and one actress, Spirit of the Underground (2008), develops expression and contact, further expanding the range of hip-hop dance. All of the pieces of the company involve some of Anne Nguyen’s text, recorded or spoken. Her next projects are the duet Yonder Woman (2009-2010), exploring the archetype of the female superhero; and the duet Terre Chair (2010-2011), a research on body-to-body movement, mixing breakdance and martial arts.
