Every public space seems to have a functionality, a logic, a set of agreements on how to behave. In this project observation is the source for creating a series of physical responses to those unspoken rules. Through these interventions, Turist aims to denaturalize those patterns of behaviour, usually experienced as “normal”, and to challenge the way strangers relate to each other in public space.

“Accords”

The process of creating movement turns out to be radically different in Accords. It involves a “democratic” process, based on individual freedom and permanent attention being paid to others: a process aimed at obtaining a choreographic complexity beyond that of a written piece. Thomas Hauert chooses to rely on the intuitive intelligence of the body and the group.

The worst of us will be the careless breaking of rules we said we would abide by, the complete disregard for anything outside our own singular desires and impulses, and generally bad choices.

Background Information
The Swiss Contemporary Dance Days 2009, takes place over four days during which ten Swiss dance companies will perform recent creations in nine venues in Ticino and with site-specific projects taking place in Val Mesolcina. The Swiss Contemporary Dance Days 2009 will thus provide a unique opportunity to witness the essence of dance in our country.
