We Dance to Forget / fABULEUS Young Makers

After the solos Kat voor de vogels (2003), Les mots… toujours les mots bien sur (2004) and the group performance .white.muted.crash. (Kulturama Festival 2004), this is the fourth collaboration between production house fABULEUS and Koen De Preter. As a dancer, he performed also in productions of T.R.A.S.H. (Tilburg), Sasha Waltz (Berlin), Raimund Hoghe (Düsseldorf), Keren Levi (Amsterdam) and Fanny & Alexander (Ravenna).

Maria Ibarretxe studied drama at the Basauri’s Drama Art School and B.A.I. (Bilbao, Spain) and direction at the film school of San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba). She works around performance arts and experimental cinema. She directed amongst others the dancepiece Txatxorras’ Cube (2004) and together with Alaitz Arenzana the short movie Lady Jibia (2006).

Koen and Maria met each other during the International Young Makers Marathon 2004, an initiative by Theater aan Zee (Ostend), that brought their performances Txatxorras’ Cube and
Les mots… toujours les mots bien sur to Ostend, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Brussels and Edinburgh.

The soundtrack of We dance to forget was created by DJ Bobby Ewing, a member of the DJ collective Discobar Galaxie and Shameboy.
