Aerowaves is proud to launch Offspring, its new audience development initiative that will enable emerging choreographers to adapt their work for and with young people.
Throughout a series of bespoke residencies, artists will collaborate and test new ideas with young audiences, develop new methodologies on how to adapt choreographic work for your people and receive mentorship from the partners. The process will be fully documented and shared online to disseminate knowledge as widely as possible.
The Aerowaves partners leading and designing the Offspring initiative are Annantalo in Helsinki, Finland (Lead), Operaestate Festival Veneto in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest (CNDB) Romania, Dansstationen in Malmö, Sweden, The Place in London, UK, Dervish&Co in Norway, Arc for Dance (Greece) together with the Aerowaves Team.
For the pilot year of this exciting new project, the partners have selected the following artists and works:
- 'Alien Express' by Žigan Krajnčan and Gašper Kunšek (Slovenia). Žigan and Gašper will kick off the programme with a residency and a showing at Dansstationen in the framework of the Young Dance Market.
- 'Scarabeo, Angles and the Void' by Andrea Costanzo Martini (Italy). Andrea will go on a series of Offspring residencies and showings at Bassano del Grappa, The Place, Annantalo, and CNDB.
